Nepali Masala Chai

Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp strong Nepal Golden Tips Tea
  • 4 cups boiling water
  • 2 Cups whole milk, heated
  • 2/3 Cup brown sugar
  • 4 Cloves (crushed)
  • 6 Cardamom pods (cracked open) OR 1/2 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1 Cinnamon stick
  • Nutmeg (ground) for garnish
  • 1 inch piece of finely chopped fresh ginger
  • 2 crushed pepper corns
  • 1 star anise (optional)

Directions

  1. . Bring a saucepan with the water to a rolling boil.
  2. . Remove from heat and add tea, milk, sugar, cloves, cardamom, ginger, pepper corns, and cinnamon stick.
  3. . Return saucepan to the stove and simmer mixture for 15 minutes allowing flavors to blend.
  4. .Strain and serve hot with a sprinkle of nutmeg.
  5. . Enjoy!

In step 2, you have:
“Remove from heat and add milk, sugar, cloves, cardamom, ginger, pepper corns, and cinnamon stick”
