Blue Fantôme

Blue Fantôme
Who can resist a fun color-changing mocktail or cocktail featuring a refreshing cold-brewed Mariage Frères tea? Definitely not us! This green tea has a not-so-secret ingredient, butterfly pea flower, that gives it its distinctive hue.
This citrusy tart drink is great in its blue form, but gets even more delicious when you add a twist of lemon juice (and maybe some sparkling or gin) and watch it change to purple! A delight for the tastebuds and eyes!
Ingredients:
  • Cold-Brewed Fantôme de L'Opéra*
  • 2-3 blackberries
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ice
  • lemon
  • sparkling water (optional)
  • gin (optional)

Directions:

  1. Muddle the blackberries and sugar together at the bottom of a short glass.
  2. Fill glass with ice.
  3. Pour about 2/3 up with cold-brewed tea.
  4. Garnish with a lemon wedge.
  5. Optional- add a squeeze of lemon and gin ,if desired,  and stir and watch the color change!
  6. Optional- top with sparkling water.

*Note- How we cold-brewed the tea:

In a quart size bottle, add half an ounce of loose tea leaves. Add room temperature filtered water. Place in the fridge for 6-8 hours or overnight.

You may also hot brew tea double strength and let cool.
