Cardamom Infused Simple Syrup + Orange Cardamom Fizz

Ingredients

  • 1 cup filtered or distilled water
  • 1 cup white or brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cardamom seeds lightly crushed

 Directions

  1. Lightly crush cardamom seeds, okay to have a few whole seeds
  2. Add water and sugar to a saucepan. Bring to almost a boil stirring occasionally until the sugar has dissolved. Takes about 10-15 minutes. Add cardamom bits to the pan.
  3. Simmer and let steep for 15 mins. Turn off the heat and let the syrup cool. Strain through a fine mesh strainer
  4. The syrup will keep in a tightly sealed contained for up to a month in the refrigerator.
  5. Use the syrup in cocktails, to sweeten tea or over vanilla ice-cream, oatmeal or rice pudding

Mocktail Idea: Orange & Cardamom Fizz

  1. Add 3 oz of fresh orange juice and 3 tbsp of the Cardamom simple syrup to a champagne flute and mix.
  2. Top with club soda.
  3. Garnish with a cinnamon stick or star anise pod.
