Kyle Stewart is a Certified Tea Specialist (CTS), a Specialty Tea Institute (STI) Mentor and an STI Advisory Board Member. He was the first CTS in Texas and is currently one of 175 in the world. More importantly, he absolutely loves tea, and loves to learn about its many rituals. Originally from a small town in Iowa, Kyle studied music at Northwestern University and Tanglewood. He has always been passionate about traveling and learning about other cultures and their culinary and beverage rituals. He often collaborates with local culinary professionals and sommeliers to pair tea with food or wine. and has made presentations at Southern Methodist University, the Dallas Museum of Art, the Crow Museum of Asian Art and at the World Tea Exposition. Kyle was honored to give a TEDxSMU talk about the aesthetic philosophy of the Japanese tea bowl.
Phil Krampetz is our coffee expert. Because our coffee supplier owns its own coffee plantation and incorporates a "seed-to-cup' quality control process, Phil traveled to the Costa Rican plantation to learn about each step of the coffee-growing and roasting process. Originally from New York, Phil has worked in a variety of industries. His background includes a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and an MS in Industrial Management. He worked at numerous international companies before finally finding his passion with small business and customer relations, selling coffee, tea and chocolate.
