‘Orange you Glad’ Cookies



  • 8 oz unsalted butter
  • ½ cup strong Orange Flower Oolong tea
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 Tablespoon frozen orange juice
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup confectioners sugar
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon orange powdered coloring


  1. . Heat oven to 350
  2. . Steep the butter in the tea over a very low heat for 20 minutes then strain off the butter and allow to cool
  3. . Beat it together with the yolk, orange juice, salt, confectioners sugar and flour until fairly stiff. Beat in the orange coloring if desired [available at Cake Carousel]
  4. . Turn the dough onto a sheet of parchment, press flat and refrigerate for at least an hour
  5. . Then roll out thin. Best done between 2 sheets of parchment
  6. . Cut into shapes or rounds, set on parchment lined baking sheet and refrigerate for an hour
  7. . Bake for about 15 minutes or until the edges start to brown. Allow to cool before serving
  8. . Note: You can frost or sprinkle with glitter
