Zisha purple clay was formed thousands of years by rainfalls that moved minerals from the mountains into lakes and formed huge beds of this very special clay. Highly prized by Chinese Emperors, the purple clay's fine texture and slightly porous texture made it an ideal material with which to brew tea. It has a 4% water absorption rate and is considered to be the best material for brewing tea.
- A small teapot is part of the gongfu tea ceremony or kung fu tea ceremony (Chinese: 工夫茶 or 功夫茶), which is a method of making Chinese tea involving the ritualized preparation and presentation of tea. Gong Fu Cha literally means "making tea with skill."
