Fun Fact: In 1633, Cardinal Richelieu ordered Le Jardin du Palais built so that he could live near the Louvre— at the time the royal residence of the French king. Originally called Le Palais Cardinal, to avoid jealousy of this sumptuous house and garden, Richelieu bequeathed the residence to Louis XIII while living in it.
