Handmade in France, this colorful faïence candy tray depicts the lush and tropical garden of the former residence of Cardinal Richelieu in Paris.   

Product Info: Gien Faïencerie has made the finest faïence (earthenware hand-decorated with opaque colored glazes) for over 200 years and controls the entire process, including making the clay, plaster molds, and glazes. Gien Faïence has a casual-chic style and draws inspiration from classic pieces that are elegant and timeless.

Fun Fact:  In 1633, Cardinal Richelieu ordered Le Jardin du Palais built so that he could live near the Louvre— at the time the royal residence of the French king.  Originally called Le Palais Cardinal, to avoid jealousy of this sumptuous house and garden, Richelieu bequeathed the residence to Louis XIII while living in it.
