    • Tea has been grown in Coban, Guatemala since the late 19th Century near sacred caves where Mayan rituals still take place
    • A gentle, flavorful tea, grown on sloping hillsides of this lush semi-tropical region

  • Surprisingly, German immigrants introduced tea production to Guatemala in the late 19th century. The immigrants had correctly observed that the climate and elevation in Coban were similar to parts of India where tea growth was robust. 40 years ago, a group of Mayan family farmers, who had worked the tea gardens, formed a Cooperative and continue to produce this tea today.
