Fun Fact: After a major military victory in 1805, Napoleon commissioned the Arc de Triomphe to commemorate his many victories. With his abdication in 1814, work on the monument was halted until 1830, when King Louis-Philippe ordered the monument's completion. The Arc de Triomphe was finally completed in 1836.
