This gorgeous French-made tea towel depicts a "physalis," a bright orange and edible fruit native to Brazil and known as a Cape Gooseberry in South Africa. Made from 100% cotton damask, these absorbent towels are pretty enough to frame, and will leave your glassware spotless!

  • Fun Facts
    • The Cape Gooseberry is a close relative of the tomatillo, a staple of Mexican cuisine.
    • The fruit, a member of the nightshade family, is mildly sweet when ripe (and toxic if eaten unripe). Similar in size to a cherry tomato, the fruit contains edible seeds that give them a slight crunch.  The taste is described as similar to a tomato with a finish of tart cranberry.
    • This towel measures 22" x 30."
    • The name "tea towel" originated in England in the early 19th century and was the linen of choice for Victorian ladies. They often personally used tea towels to ensure that their expensive teaware wasn't broken by a careless servant.
